- Has no written contract or gives a vague one-page price with no scope
- Suggests skipping permits to save time or money
- Cannot show proof of insurance or a Rhode Island contractor registration number
- Pressures you to sign the same day with a limited-time discount

Home Renovation Contractor — Local Know-How
Working as a home renovation contractor in Narragansett means planning around the homes that are actually here. Narragansett has Victorian and shingle-style homes near the Pier, beach cottages in Bonnet Shores and Sand Hill Cove, and contemporary coastal houses. Seasonal and rental properties are frequently renovated for year-round use.
Many properties are within FEMA flood zones and CRMC jurisdiction, which can affect elevation, footprints and exterior materials. Our crew schedules Narragansett projects alongside work in nearby South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Block Island (New Shoreham), so we know the local building office, supply runs and site logistics.
Permits & Rules in Narragansett
- Building permits in Narragansett are issued by the town's building official under the Rhode Island State Building Code — we prepare the applications and schedule every inspection.
- Homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint, so renovation that disturbs painted surfaces follows Rhode Island and EPA lead-safe work practices.
- Parts of Narragansett include historic districts or historic properties where exterior changes such as siding, windows and doors may require local review before work begins.
- Waterfront and low-lying properties in Narragansett can fall within FEMA flood zones or Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) jurisdiction, which affects footprints, elevations and materials.
